It turns out that a recent poll shows that Donald Trump has gained among independents post the start of the House impeachment inquiry against him. In September, Joe Biden had an 18 point lead with independents. That has been cut down to 1. Trump now leads Senator Elizabeth Warren 49 to 43. In September she had a 4 point lead. Trump leads Senator Sanders 48 to 44 percent. In September Sanders had a 9 point lead.
What does this all mean? Apparently attempting to impeach a president for seeking foreign assistance to investigate possible corruption by a former vice president isn't as popular with independents as first thought. And as Rand Paul recently pointed out, democrats legislators wrote a letter in 2018 to Ukraine threatening to cut of aid if they didn't help investigate Donald Trump.
That or independents might side with Trump over a Syria pullout. A poll back in January 2019 showed Democrats, Republicans and Independents equally supportive of keeping troops in Syria at about 60 percent with only a slight majority (51 percent) of younger voters being for a withdrawal. However now that Trump has taken actual action, Republicans back the withdrawal with a solid 57 percent majority. I don't currently have numbers on independents (will update when I get them) but maybe they are shifting their view on Syria as well. The question opponents of a Syria draw down cannot answer is "if not now, then when?"

Analysis of the Hunter Biden / Ukraine scandal.
Even CNN's Jake Tapper had to admit that what Hunter Biden did seemed "swampy." Hmmm...I seem to recall a certain politician saying he would "drain the swamp." So what exactly did Hunter Biden do in Ukraine and how "swampy" is it?
According to a report by the Reuters news agency, Burisma is a "an obscure Ukrainian gas company" that hired Hunter Biden in 2013. Hunter Biden, who had recently been discharged from the navy for his cocaine use, described his role this way:
In 2014, the Ukrainian government was overturned after mass street protests. Also in 2014 a Ukrainian prosecutor began looking into suspected tax violations by Burisma.
In March 2016, Joe Biden got the prosecutor that was investigating Burisma fired after threatening to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid. According to Reuters "In 2016, a Kiev district court said it had found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing by Burisma president and owner Zlochevsky and ordered the Prosecutor General’s Office to remove him from the authorities’ wanted list." Despite this finding, "In 2017....the company paid an additional 180 million hryvnias ($7.44 million) in taxes."
Hunter Biden stayed with the company until April 2019 when his term expired. April 2019 is also when TheHill.com published the article "Joe Biden's 2020 Ukrainian nightmare: A closed probe is revived." Note that according to WikiPedia, The Hill is a "was founded in 1994 by Democratic power broker and New York businessman Jerry Finkelstein and Martin Tolchin, a former correspondent for The New York Times. The paper is owned by the founder's son James A. Finkelstein, who serves as its chairman."

On October 21, 2019, USA Today reported that the ozone layer has shrunk to its smallest size ever and that's due to warm weather. But I thought that warming was bad. Hmmm....
